My fave summer smoothies

Below are two of my all time fave summer smoothies.  Perfect to enjoy when you're craving a little something sweet, need to tide yourself over to the next meal or just want a refreshing hit.

These recipes are best used as inspiration for you to mix and match and free flow to find the perfect mix for you: some like em' thick and some like em' runny.  Some like em' sweet and some like em tangy!

For added sweetness you can use more banana or add your choice of sweeter (honey, maple syrup, rice malt syrup etc).

Other fave additions of mine are:

  • desiccated coconut

  • oats

  • chia seeds

  • pumpkin or kumara puree

  • peanut butter

  • avocado

  • Tahini

  • Be creative - what would you love to throw into yours!?

This one is perfect if you're looking for a zesty thirst quencher packed with antioxidants, healthy fats and happy gut probiotics:

Mix in a blender/nutribullet:

  • 1/2 banana frozen in chunks

  • 1 big handful of your fave berries (I love blueberries as they're low in sugar and high in goodness)

  • 1 tblsp coconut yoghurt (or greek yoghurt if you're ok with dairy)

  • 150ml coconut water (or plain water)

  • Optional veg for added goodness - I freeze the inner core of spiralised zucchini and throw them in - you can also add spinach, kale, frozen broccoli stalks etc

Pulse a few times until smooth and enjoy in your favourite glass!

Just like a chocolate milk shake - only healthy!

  • Optional veg for added goodness - I freeze the inner core of spiralised zucchini and throw them in - you can also add spinach, kale, frozen broccoli stalks etc
